CE Accreditation Information - April 7 Webinar
How 3D Printing Can Save Lives
Webinar
April 7, 2020 | 1:00- 2:00 pm EDT
Description:
Across the nation it’s ‘all hands-on deck’ as several non-traditional suppliers are stepping up to provide products desperately needed by the healthcare industry to combat the spread of COVID-19. Over the next few months we’ll highlight some of these non-traditional suppliers who are using their entrepreneurial drive to augment the healthcare supply chain during these unprecedented times.
Join us on Tuesday, April 7th as we highlight how to make thermoplastic filament for medical face shields. Sarah Heller, art teacher at The Lexington School, is a member of a vast global network of creators working around the clock to provide supplies to keep our health professionals safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. A member of the medical community approached Heller a week ago about generating a prototype for a medical face shield. Sarah immediately researched and found open source files online. Landing on Prusa 3D, Sarah was able to successfully print shields benefitting a number of nurses and healthcare professionals in her immediate community. Sarah wants to magnify her efforts globally by sharing her modifications as open source. People are contacting her from as far as India asking for access to her design, which she gladly shares. She says, “Everybody wants to get involved. Finding the right STL file--once you know something works you blast it out there and share it.”
Joining Sarah on Tuesday’s webinar will be Karen Conway, Vice President of GHX and Former Chair of the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management (AHRMM), who will provide context on how the healthcare supply chain community can utilize not only Sarah’s innovative solutions in the worldwide fight against COVID-19, but also how other innovative processes can be applied.
