In 1993, Shawn Daniel graduated from the United States Military Academy after earning the distinction of serving as First Captain for the Corps of Cadets during his senior year. In March 2001, he took command of C Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Just 37 days after 9/11, Shawn led a Company of Army Rangers in a parachute assault into southern Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, effectively kicking off the war in the south. He eventually deployed six more times to Afghanistan and once to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Upon his retirement in 2017, Colonel (Ret.) Shawn Daniel has served the President of Darby’s Warrior Support, a nonprofit organization providing hunting, fishing and outdoor experiences to post-9/11 Special Operations veterans to aid in their recovery and transition. His time in uniform coupled with his commitment to continuing to serve the community earned him induction into the Ranger Hall of Fame (Class of 2022).
