Name
Pharmacy Track: 2021 Pharmacy Reimbursement & Payment Rules
Date & Time
Saturday, August 22, 2020, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Description

With each new calendar year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issues changes to the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS). Although OPPS impacts reimbursement across all outpatient hospital operations, pharmacy is directly impacted by changes to reimbursement for drugs and biologicals, including those in the 340B program. In this session, attendees will explore the medication components of the OPPS rule with an emphasis on pharmacy’s role in creating and supporting an IDN’s financial strategy. The delayed transparency rule requirements effective January 2021 will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain how pharmacy contributes and supports an IDN’s financial strategy.
  2. Outline the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on OPPS rules and its effect on pharmacy operations.
  3. Discuss the potential effects of the transparency rule requirements.
