Description
Evidence-based decision making in healthcare is important to provide quality patient care at a cost-effective price. Yet, by some estimates, only 20 percent of decisions in healthcare are made based on evidence. Bridging this disconnect is key to improving patient care and maintaining cost control. In this session, a healthcare leader will discuss maximizing evidence-based decision making to control costs and improve patient outcomes. Topics including building an environment of evidence-based decision making and decision making when evidence for new products is minimal will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
- Evaluate how IDNs can utilize evidence-based decision making to control costs and improve patient outcomes.
- Outline actions healthcare leaders can take to encourage evidence-based decision making.
- Identify alternative sources of information when new products have limited evidence.
