Dr. L. Pearce McCarty, MD, MBA is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon, healthcare executive, and health technology innovator with over two decades of experience reshaping delivery systems and driving operational excellence. He has a track record of providing leadership in complex organizations and building innovative healthcare technology solutions. As a musculoskeletal leader within Allina Health, a large regional health system in the Upper Midwest, he helps direct market strategy, program development, and quality initiatives for 130 physicians and advanced practice providers across twelve hospitals and more than 30 clinics—driving measurable improvements in operational performance and clinical outcomes.

Additionally, Dr. McCarty serves as System Medical Director for Supply Chain at Allina Health, helping lead value analysis and general non-labor strategy for the IDN as a whole,

In 2021, he co-founded DOCSI, a healthcare IT company developing digital tools that reduce procedural costs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance physician engagement. DOCSI has attracted industry attention for its cutting edge, AI-enabled analytics and ability to align clinical decision-making with supply chain strategy, unlocking significant value for health systems.

Along with his real-world entrepreneurial and system leadership experience, he brings an elite blend of clinical and academic pedigree, having trained in orthopedic surgery at Harvard, completed a sports medicine fellowship at Rush University, and earned his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

He served as Orthopedic Team Physician for the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball team from 2005 to 2018, has been named a “Top Doc” by Minneapolis–St. Paul Magazine for twelve consecutive years – a testament to sustained excellence, clinical leadership, and patient trust.

Finally, he has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and a dozen book chapters on shoulder and sports medicine, providing thought leadership within his area of clinical expertise.
