IDN, GPO and RPC pharmacy leaders start each IDN Summit by attending an intensive Pharmacy Executive’s Forum discussing strategic pharmacy supply chain issues. Each session is led by an executive leader inviting peer-led education during these strategic discussions.

Pharmacy Executive Forum is from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, April 22. To register or for more information contact Trey Beuttel or call 859.523.5701

Provider & GPO Focused by Invitation Only

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

The landscape facing pharmacy executives today is as diverse as the organizations they serve, yet common threads often emerge when leaders candidly share the obstacles most impacting them. This session creates space for participants to introduce themselves, their organizations, and the strategic challenges currently demanding their attention. Whether navigating workforce constraints, regulatory uncertainty, cost pressures, or operational transformation, this conversation establishes the foundation for meaningful exchange throughout the forum.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify common strategic and operational challenges facing pharmacy executives across diverse IDN environments.
2. Compare how different health systems are prioritizing competing demands and allocating resources to address critical pharmacy pain points.
3. Recognize emerging trends and pressure points within the pharmacy landscape based on collective insights from participants.
4. Establish connections with peers facing similar challenges to facilitate ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing beyond the forum.

9:15 AM - 10:15 AM

Drug shortages have become a persistent reality rather than an occasional disruption, fundamentally reshaping how pharmacy executives approach inventory management, supplier relationships, and clinical decision-making. The traditional playbook no longer suffices when unpredictability is the only constant. This session brings together pharmacy leaders to explore how organizations are adapting their strategies, from safety stock optimization and alternative sourcing to clinical protocol adjustments and cross-functional crisis response.

Learning Objectives:
1. Evaluate inventory management approaches that balance cost efficiency with supply assurance in an environment of chronic drug shortages.
2. Analyze predictive and reactive strategies for shortage mitigation, including technology enablement, supplier diversification, and therapeutic substitution protocols.
3. Compare organizational models for shortage response and determine which governance structures and decision-making frameworks prove most effective.
4. Formulate enhanced inventory and shortage management strategies informed by collective experience and emerging best practices from peer organizations.

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Pharmacy operations face intensifying financial pressure from every direction—reimbursement reductions, drug cost inflation, regulatory changes, and shrinking margins that threaten sustainability. Revenue cycle optimization is no longer a back-office concern but a strategic imperative requiring executive attention and cross-functional coordination. This session examines how pharmacy leaders are navigating financial challenges while preserving access to essential medications and maintaining operational integrity.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify critical revenue cycle vulnerabilities and margin compression drivers affecting pharmacy financial performance across IDN settings.
2. Assess strategies for revenue capture optimization, charge integrity, and reimbursement maximization without compromising compliance or patient access.
3. Distinguish between short-term financial interventions and sustainable approaches to margin protection based on organizational experience and outcomes.
4. Develop financial resilience strategies that address both immediate pressures and longer-term sustainability challenges facing pharmacy operations.
