In addition to serving as the chief supply chain officer for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Teresa Dail is the president of three LLC’s wholly owned by VUMC: Vanderbilt Health Supply Chain Solutions, Vanderbilt Health Purchasing Collaborative and Carefluent Connect. The focus of the three LLC’s is to extend the influence and value that supply chain can bring to healthcare organizations across the continuum of care.

Teresa is a registered nurse whose healthcare career included leadership roles in the ICU, Perioperative nursing, and practice administration.  Dail started her supply chain career as a Clinical Resource Manager introducing the concept of value analysis and clinical collaboration to a seven-hospital system. Teresa was recruited to Vanderbilt to focus on the development of a high performing supply chain to support the tripartited mission of the organization of clinical care, education and research. The supply chain at VUMC is centralized across an 8 hospital system which also includes a substantial ambulatory footprint into several adjacent states.  Teresa’s responsibility spans from a strategic focus on supply chain resiliency, innovation, and expanding supply chain’s role in the healthcare system of the future to day to day operations for logistics, distribution, contracting, systems, purchasing, accounts payable, capital, linen, retail, clinical engineering, travel and other disbursement services for the Clinical Enterprise.  She is chair of the Executive Committee for the Medical Economics Outcome Committee working in collaboration with 6 medical directors since 2008 to oversee the process for evaluating new products/technology, clinical variation and impact to outcomes utilizing a clinically integrated approach.  Teresa is the author of multiple publications, both independently and with physician colleagues, focused on a value based purchasing and clinically engaged collaborative decision making models for supply chain management. She is an active member of SMI and is past chair of the board of AHRMM, the supply chain professional membership group under the American Hospital Association. Teresa was named to the Bell Weather League Hall of Fame for supply chain in 2022.
