The challenges we discussed at the 2022 IDN Spring Summit are:
We could talk for days about Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)…both the good and the bad. There is no shortage of resources claiming to share the “25 best healthcare KPI’s and metrics” that you should be tracking right now. But what works best for your organization might not work for others…and vice versa. Or, you may have some insight on under the radar KPIs that have made a huge impact on your organization. Let us know what works…and what hasn’t.
Learning Objectives:
- Outline key KPI’s and metrics that have an impact on various organizations.
- Differentiate universally impactful KPI’s and metrics from those with only organizationally specific impacts.
- Determine ways your organization can improve how it measures KPI’s and metrics.
Remote Workforce Management
Host: Trey Beuttel, Director of Provider Relationships & Education, BBM
Healthcare, just like many other segments of business and industry, has discovered that many jobs can be successfully done from home. According to a recent survey by PwC, 33% of companies plan a mix of in-person, hybrid and fully remote workplace settings going forward. But healthcare is in a bit more of a tricky situation in creating a hybrid model that balances productivity with morale and most importantly, maintaining the focus on patient care. Lets’ talk about the trends and challenges of managing the growing remote workforce.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify and discuss areas of Supply Chain Management that are impacted by a remote workforce.
- Evaluate if today’s supply chain should be designed with an overreaching vision for the implementation of a remote workforce.
- Analyze the key challenges your organization has faced while managing a remote workforce.
Another challenge that arose during the pandemic was the problematic nature of ‘connecting the dots’ with GTIN, classification and functional equivalents in order to manage or be proactive in finding and securing product alternatives to address shortages. Given that building resiliency, finding product options and mitigating the impact of shortages will be a long-term challenge that must be addressed, what are some of the processes, best practices and contingencies that you have put into place to address these issues?
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has permanently impacted how organizations manage supply shortages.
- Analyze strategies that you have implemented to combat the current shortages within your organization.
- Outline best practices others have used successfully to manage healthcare supply chain challenges.
Clean, quality data is the foundation of building better outcomes in the healthcare setting, from both the cost and quality perspectives. But much like other tools, you might not be able to maximize its value if you don’t know how to use it. Gleaning actionable insights, and how best to utilize and visualize data in some situations are critical considerations, not to mention the challenges around integrity and security. This discussion will explore how you use data to make an impact, and how you might be able to learn a few hacks to do it even better.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss types of data and data sources that are impactful to your organization.
- Identify the various tools and platforms being used across different organizations that are assisting them in driving increased efficiencies.
- Outline strategies that can improve your organization via data analysis and management.
Managing IDNs Waste
Host: Joe Quinones, Supply Chain Executive
It has been estimated that hospitals spend $10 billion annually in disposal costs. Given the global focus on better environmental stewardship across the board, it is essential for healthcare to do its part in implementing environmentally friendly policies and practices. Things like environmentally preferable purchasing programs, more efficient ordering protocols, new processes to reduce waste, donating materials, and enhanced recycling, are all steps that can and have been taken. During this discussion, we’ll elaborate on the challenges, successes, trends and innovations that are driving better green strategies.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify key trends and innovations driving the management of waste within the healthcare supply chain.
- Examine challenges your organization has faced as it has transitioned to include environmentally friendly practices.
- Outline successful strategies for implementing environmentally thoughtful disposal practices.
As we surpass the two-year mark of the pandemic, IDNs are still left wondering when supply chains will get back to “normal”. Shortages, labor constraints, storage limitations, and increasing delivery rates are all expected to continue through the high demands of 2022. That being said, this year could mark a turning point. IDNs and suppliers are making big investments to add capacity and are increasingly adopting new technology that will drive efficiencies and lower costs. Join Brent Petty, as he leads this discussion on how the supply chain industry is changing, and what you need to do to optimize your system.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss primary challenges your organization is facing as it pertains to supply chain demands.
- Outline strategies to enhance supply chain efficiencies and lower costs.
- Analyze the key changes to supply chain management that will remain in the post-pandemic healthcare industry.
