Monday Lunch N Learn Hosts

Lunch N Learns are in-depth educational forums offering opportunity for discussion of current issues impacting the healthcare supply chain. These invitation-only sessions allow host companies the chance for open dialogue about strategies, problem solving and informed decision making in the changing atmosphere of the healthcare supply chain.

Led by industry leaders, these provider-only sessions are designed to be interactive and provide access to experts from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Each session will afford ample opportunity for open dialogue with the presenting companies.

The Clinically Integrated Supply Chain in Action

The term “Clinically Integrated Supply Chain” is becoming a commonly used term, but what does it mean, what does it look like in practice, and why should we care?  Join GHX Vice President of Healthcare Value, Karen Conway, and incoming AHRMM chair Jimmy Chung, MD, as they share the results of a six-month research project that examined how clinical and supply chain leaders are collaborating to align decisions on evidence-based care pathways, including resources used to optimize outcomes and the patient experience. Dr. Chung and Karen will then guide you through some mini tabletop exercises to explore how clinical-supply chain integration can be applied to your everyday work as supply chain professionals.  Leave with some key takeaways to advance the CISC journey in your institution.

Case Study: Partnering in Health Systems to Manage a Subset of COPD Patients

COPD is challenging to manage and further complicated by its rare genetic form, alpha1-anti-trypsin deficiency (alpha-1). Alpha-1 is an underdiagnosed disease, with patients, on average, seen by 2.7 physicians over 8.3 years before receiving a correct diagnosis. Learn how Grifols is partnering with health systems to diagnose, manage, and treat COPD patients with alpha-1. You will have an opportunity to interact with a panel of decision-makers and learn about an initiative that is positively impacting patient experiences.

Resiliency: Taking Supply Chain Management Forward

Healthcare supply chain leaders routinely indicate that managing supply disruptions is the greatest operational challenge they face.  This was true before the COVID-19 pandemic, but even more evident now as we see how unplanned events can greatly impact the entire healthcare value chain.  Efficient flow of goods requires channel coordination across multiple trading partners between the point of origin and the point of patient care.  Minimizing disturbances requires visibility and alignment of the complete value chain.  However, transparency has been historically hard to come by.  This lack of transparency creates a gap between suppliers and providers which often leads to high inventories, sporadic demand cycles, inaccurate forecasting, and supply disruptions.  With the right collaboration, the healthcare supply chain could be more efficiently managed, adding value to suppliers, distributors, and providers.
