Dr. Chad Mathis is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who attended medical school and completed his residency at the IU School of Medicine and Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also completed a Shoulder Reconstruction and Sports Medicine fellowship at the Lipscomb Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. While practicing in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Mathis was a founding member and CEO of a six-member orthopedic practice and a commercial real estate company. In addition to practicing medicine for many years in Alabama, Dr. Mathis sat as the Chairman of the Alabama Federation for Children and a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Policy Institute. Dr. Mathis served as president-elect of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Mathis eventually left clinical practice of medicine and joined Smith and Nephew Inc. (LSE: SN, NYSE: SNN). Dr. Mathis subsequently went on to be Chief Medical Officer at Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX).
